Speaker Bios David Levin I’m running for Bradenton City Council Ward 2, at large. I'm a veteran, husband, and father of three. I grew up in a Judeo-Christian household, and that's how my wife and I are raising our children. I’m also a former cyber sleuth who discovered critical vulnerabilities in Florida's elections systems, and was subsequently invited to perform penetration tests on the Pentagon. I’m a current member of InfraGard, a public-private partnership with the FBI. After discovering those critical election vulnerabilities, I went on to graduate from law school. I currently work with technology in the finance sector, and I enjoy training for and running marathons. It works up an appetite, so I also enjoy cooking--mostly healthy--everyday, and smoking briskets on the weekend. Bill Sanders Councilman Bill Sanders represents Ward 4 on the City Council. Sanders won his first term as a Bradenton City Councilman in 2018. He brings a wide and varied background with him to City Hall. He was born and raised on a farm in Southern Indiana and moved to Bradenton in 2011. He left his mark in Iowa by spearheading efforts to get legislators to pass a law to make drunken boating illegal; this successful effort was precipitated by the death of his first wife, Dona, after their boat was hit by a drunken boater. After the accident, Sanders made it his mission to get the law passed; the resulting legislation is known as “Dona’s Law.” Sanders’ professional background is largely in the field of accounting and financial management. He spent much of his career as a finance manager for Farm Credit Services and in the finance divisions of farm equipment manufacturer Massey Ferguson and the Small Business Administration Eastern Division. He is a board member of the Sarasota/Manatee MPO; other professional memberships include the Suncoast Partnership HUD Continuum of Care - Manatee/Sarasota Counties Issues & Funding for Homeless; U.S. Global Leadership Florida Advisory Committee (Networking with Congress on America and Foreign Policy); and the Tampa Bay Regional Transit Authority. Councilman Sanders was recently appointed as a member of the Federal Action Strike Team, a Florida League of Cities delegation known as FAST, that participates in an annual FAST Fly-in to Washington, D.C. to bring national attention to Florida issues. He is Vice Chairman of Bradenton CRA and is the City Council representative on the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee. He serves on the Manatee Chamber Transportation committee, and is a member of the Bradenton Lions Club, the Kiwanis Club and the Manatee Tiger Bay Club. He is also a member of River Isle Golf Club. Sanders, who graduated from Indiana University in 1975, enjoys golfing, boating, and “time on the motorcycle.” | | | |
From Tea Party Patriots Action Tell the CDC and White House to Drop The Mask Mandate Appeal
On Monday, April 18, U.S. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle ruled that the CDC exceeded its power by imposing a travel mask mandate. Judge Mizelle wrote in her decision, “Because 'our system does not permit agencies to act unlawfully even in the pursuit of desirable ends,’ the court declares unlawful and vacates the mask mandate." The Biden administration has decided to appeal this decision - but not because they believe mandated masking is the best action based on scientific evidence, or that it is good for public health. No, the administration admitted openly that they are appealing to "preserve that authority for the CDC to have in the future." It's about power for them, not what's right. However, the CDC never had this authority in the first place - and they still don't. Tell the White House and the CDC to back down, because the CDC does not possess the power to mandate masks. About Call One Day When those who govern fear the people, they will govern wisely. The Goal For Defend Florida to become a politicians worst nightmare or their best ally. Ultimately, for Defend Florida's leadership to be granted a golden pass to any elected or government official so our message and solutions will be enacted with expediency. The Premise Save for the few exceptions, most elected officials only care about the voters when it is election time. If we develop the reputation that Defend Florida can summon/activate the voters at a statewide level, they will understand we are a force that can alter (or aid) their political aspirations. The Opportunity The "Call One Day" initiative (COD): designates one day a week for Defend Florida’s membership and affiliates to flood the politicians with phone calls. This approach accomplishes the following goals: 1) Legislators will understand we are active and our reach is state wide. 2) Voters will become used to making the phone calls regularly. When we actually need to mobilize our base to influence legislation, the action is familiar and easy. 3) Defend Florida becomes a brand. 4) Voters are engaged and informed via the call script.
