Dear Guest,

Special Summer Break Edition Issue #5

Our Summer Break extends through September 13. Meetings will resume on September 20 with a special Poll Watcher Training Session presented by the Republican Party Of Florida (RPOF).

While there will be no General Meetings, Action Teams may conduct separate meetings during the break. Be sure to check with your Action Team leader for details!

And mark you calendars! Our first meeting after the Summer Break will have Tim Abakhin, Regional Election Integrity Director for the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF), conducting a special Poll Watcher training session exclusively for Manatee Patriots. This training is a requirement to become a credentialed Poll Watcher for the Republican Party during the General Election. You won't want to miss Tim's essential training on Tuesday, September 20.

School Board Meeting Tuesday, September 13 at 10am

The first School Board meeting with the winners of the recent Manatee County School Board elections will be on Tuesday, September 13 at 10am. The meeting will convene in the Board Room at the School Boards Administration Building located at:

215 Manatee Avenue West
Bradenton, Florida 34205

It will be quite interesting to note any change in demeanor in the board with Chad and Richard in attendance after their victories. We urge all Manatee Patriots subscribers to attend to voice our support.

"But, but, but..."

A frustrated reader recently wrote:

"I read with keen interest your recent newsletter wherein you had suggested that during the Summer Break subscribers may donate online via Paypal. Well I don't have a Paypal account and I don't use credit cards. But I do have a lot of loose change laying around. What should I do?"  - Scott

That's a tough one, Scott.  So I consulted with our President - Jack May - and he suggested the following course of action:  Scrounge around your house (under sofa cushions, pants pockets, drawers, center console in your car, coin jars, etc.) and put all the coins you find into money bags.  Then it will be a simple task to bring your findings to our next meeting on Tuesday, September 20.  Now there's a great plan!

Election Integrity Action Team Meeting

Minds and appetites were sated as a group from Election Integrity Action Team met last Tuesday evening for a special presentation by political expert John Jaggers.  John is COO, Political Director for multiple organizations and a former member of the Trump administration.  John suggested that while voting machines can be hacked, the argument has already been won with the public as everyone is anxious to be rid of them.  He suggested that our efforts be channeled into cleaning and maintaining voter roles instead.

Our good friends at Defend Florida graciously allowed us to use their Zoom Meeting facility.  The entire unedited meeting is available on our Election Integrity Action Team page, which may be accessed by clicking this link.

And did I mention the food?  The homemade delicacies on offer far surpassed your humble Editor's expectations!

Jeff Carman Asks: "Did Political Positions or a Political Power Shift Create the Wins?"

Only 3 of 10 registered voters bothered to cast a vote this past week in the Manatee County Primaries.

Turnout for Democrats and Republicans was 38%. Turnout for those unaffiliated or Minor parties was a dismal 13%.

The results in the sole Countywide race for County Commission showed Jason Bearden ousting At-Large Commissioner Carol Whitmore with 62% of the overall Republican Primary vote. Bearden won every precinct in County Commission Districts 1 and 5, and only lost 5 precincts in Commission districts 3,4, and 2, though in districts 3 and 4 his wins generally were less than 60%.

So, did Political Positions or the Shift in Political Power East win the election? I would say a bit of both.

Bearden had more wins out East, but did well in the West as well. Of note, Carol Whitmore won her home precinct of Holmes Beach 305 on election day 105-99-13, but lost 309 northern Longboat Key 95-44-16. So, she did the best in Commission districts 2,3 and 4, but not well enough.

Mike Rahn won all but 2 of Commission district 4 precincts, and generally did better in the newly redistricted 400 precincts versus those that were also previously in District 4.

More to come as the statistics become available. Both Senator Gruters and Boyd handily won their races as did Congressman Buchanan.  School Board races to follow.
